| The Red River High Mountain Half Marathon and 5K is a beautiful, challenging, high altitude race from the historic mining town of Red River along Highway 578 through Red River’s Upper Valley. The 13.1 mile surrounds the runner with amazing mountain peaks, including Wheeler Peak at 13,161 ft., the highest point in New Mexico. You will begin at 8750 feet. The out and back course will gain approximately 700 feet on the way out, and the return is definitely the easier part of the run. This course is for the athlete who likes a challenge. Whether you complete the half marathon or the 5K, you will feel like you have conquered the world! T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 pre-registered participants, there will be a limited quantity of shirts and sizes after the pre-registration deadline, sizes are not guaranteed. Runners Reception & Silent Auction: We plan special events for our participants. Join us on Friday, May 17th from 4 - 6 p.m. for a runner's reception at Mountain Treasurers Bistro, 121 E. Main Street. We will have delicious appetizers, wine and soda. During the reception you will have your first opportunity to bid on our silent auction items. We are planning a bigger and better selection this year for our runners. Awards: Join us for awards ceremony following the race at 2:00 p.m., again at Mountain Treasurers Bistro. Once again, we will have great food to aid with your post race recovery! Our awards ceremony has food and fun. come cheer on the winners and rehash your race experience! Awards will include a $100 cash award for the male and female overall winners of the Half Marathon. Awards will also be presented to the overall male and female Master's Winners. Age group awards will be presented to the first, second and third place winners, male and female in ten year age groups. In the 5K, awards will be presented to the male and female overall winners, and to the first and second finisher, male and female in ten year age groups. The silent auction will continue during the awards ceremony. The cut-off for bidding will be at 3 p.m. and you must pick up and pay for items at that time.
