| The Red River High Mountain Half Marathon and 5K is a beautiful, challenging, high altitude race from the historic mining town of Red River along Highway 578 through Red River’s Upper Valley. The 13.1 mile surrounds the runner with amazing mountain peaks, including Wheeler Peak at 13,161 ft., the highest point in New Mexico. You will begin at 8750 feet. The out and back course will gain approximately 700 feet on the way out, and the return is definitely the easier part of the run. This course is for the athlete who likes a challenge. Whether you complete the half marathon or the 5K, you will feel like you have conquered the world! T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 pre-registered participants, there will be a limited quantity of shirts and sizes after the pre-registration deadline, sizes are not guaranteed.
